“The Church must be reminded that it is not the master or the servant of the state, but rather the conscious of the state. It must be the guide and the critic of the state, and never its tool. If the church does not recapture its prophetic zeal, it will become an irrelevant social club without moral or spiritual authority” - Martin Luther King Jr.
In 1954 the Johnson Amendment prohibited the church from speaking on politics or suffer the loss of the coveted tax-exempt status. On that day, the church gave up its voice, it gave up its moral authority for a few dollars. No more can the church have an opinion on politics. To demonstrate this, if Jesus and Satan were running for President of the United States, the church could endorse or oppose neither candidate.
With this considered, we submit that the American people have endured repeated abuse, and neglect from the American churches. They have become complacent, indifferent, scared, and silent, and in some cases even corrupted with evil.
The church should resume its service as the conscious of the state. The 1776 Restoration Movement, and We the People all over America insist the Church works to regain its uncontaminated prophetic zeal, and restore its moral and spiritual authority.
They no longer teach personal responsibility, rather blamelessness.
They have stopped seeking God’s forgiveness and guidance, rather they demand His tolerance.
They have removed God and built new idols.
They have protected and covered up child abusers.
They have endorsed perversion and called it acceptance.
They have excused murdering the unborn and called it choice.
They have remained silent as our children are groomed.
They have itself worshiped false gods.
They have failed to defend marriage.
They have failed to spread a Biblical message.
They have lost their way and become merely a social club without moral or spiritual authority.
Isaiah 5:20 “Woe unto those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”
2 Chronicles 7: 14 “If my people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
God help us.
